1. Basic Information
PET stands for polyethylene terephthalate, commonly known as polyester. As a highly cost-effective material, polyester ranks among the most widely used filter media for dust collection.
PET nonwoven fabric is crafted from 100% pure polyester. It is manufactured by extruding continuous polyester filaments via spinning, then bonding them through hot rolling, which earns it another name: PET spunbond filament nonwoven fabric.
Compared with conventional nonwovens, PET spunbond fabric belongs to a higher-grade material category. It features water repellency, flame retardancy and outstanding heat resistance. This versatile material is extensively applied across furniture & mattress, automotive interiors, filtration, medical & healthcare and many other industries.
2. Product Information
(1) Excellent Water Repellency
PET nonwoven fabric features outstanding water repellent performance. Water droplets will slide off its surface instantly upon contact. Its water repellent effect varies by fabric grammage: higher grammage means thicker fabric and superior water repellency.
(2) Wide Temperature Resistance Range
Polyester has a melting point of around 260°C, allowing the fabric to maintain stable physical performance under high-temperature conditions. It is widely adopted for heat transfer printing, transmission oil filtration and other high-temperature resistant composite material applications. Meanwhile, it remains intact at temperatures as low as -70°C. Extreme cold barely impacts its mechanical properties, delivering reliable stability across a broad temperature spectrum.
(3) Great Air Permeability
The porous internal structure of PET nonwoven delivers stable air permeability, which is directly related to aperture size. In general, larger pore openings correspond to better air circulation performance.
(4) Superior Mechanical Stability
Among common textile materials, PET ranks second only to nylon in mechanical performance. It boasts exceptional wear resistance, tear strength and structural stability. Manufacturing PET spunbond nonwoven requires sophisticated production equipment and complex technical workflows with high technical thresholds. For this reason, it far outperforms regular PE nonwovens in durability and service life.
(5) Unique Gamma Ray Resistance
A standout feature exclusive to PET spunbond nonwoven is its gamma ray resistance. When subjected to gamma radiation sterilization, the fabric retains full physical performance and dimensional stability — a key advantage that PP spunbond nonwovens cannot match.
(6) Customizable Functional Modification via Secondary Processing
Beyond its inherent material strengths, PET nonwoven can be modified through secondary finishing to achieve targeted custom functions, catering to diverse industry and client demands. Available custom functional treatments include hydrophilic, hydrophobic, antibacterial, fluorescent, flame retardant and more custom features.
